Tribute & Message From The Family

Virginia Reed Cook has gone to heaven to be with her beloved
husband on July 15, 2017. Born in 1920 in Hinton, West Virginia to Esker & Leatha Reed, "Ginny", as she was known to her friends and "Mimi" to her grandchildren and great grandchildren, was a dedicated wife, mother, and grandmother. After contributing as a "Rosie the Riveter" during WWII, she dedicated her time to raising her children and creating a loving home. Later, she joined her husband, John E. Cook, of John Cook Jewelers, where she worked alongside her husband and son for thirty-eight years until retirement.
She enjoyed reading, cooking, traveling and collecting antiques along the Eastern Shore. As a gourmet cook, she entertained often and always served holiday meals with sterling flatware, elegant antique dishes, and linen tablecloths and napkins- a true Southern lady. She was also very talented at home decorating and was known to enter any room and begin to decide how it should be rearranged. Her influence helped guide all of the women in her family to make beautiful homes, as well.
Ginny was a lifelong member of Bream Memorial Presbyterian Church in Charleston, West Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, one brother, and three sisters.
She is survived by her daughters, Rise Boggs (Chuck) and Sherry Clark (Mike); son, Johnny Cook (Pam), from Charleston, WV, and brother, Jack Reed (Janet) of Aiken, South Carolina; eight grandchildren, sixteen great-grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews. All of whom she loved dearly.
The family wishes to thank and praise Good Living (assisted living facility) in Malden, West Virginia and Hospice for all of their care, love, and support while she was with them.
In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate a donation to HospiceCare, 1606 Kanawha Blvd., W, Charleston, WV 25387-2536.
A Memorial Service to Honor the Life of Virginia will be held at 7:00 PM, Friday, July 21, 2017 at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston. Family and Friends may visit one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
Memories may be shared by visiting and selecting the obituary. Snodgrass Funeral Home is handling the arrangements.
