James Edgar "Jim" Halstead, II

James Edgar "Jim" Halstead, II, 70, of Hurricane, West Virginia, formerly of South Charleston, passed away October 9, 2017 at Cabell Huntington Hospital.
He was born on June 9, 1947 in Beckley, West Virginia to the late James and Lois Genevieve (Keaton) Halstead. He was a 1965 graduate of South Charleston High School and also graduated from Morris Harvey College. He was a United States Army Veteran serving on the rifle team and the color guard. Jim retired from Bell Atlantic after 32 years of service. Following his retirement he opened his own business, Universal Electric and operated it since 1984. He was a member of First Presbyterian Church of South Charleston. Having his pilot's license, he enjoyed flying private planes at Mallory Airport with his friends. He also enjoyed his golf outings and playing tennis with his friends. His greatest joy was spending time with his many grandchildren.
Jim is survived by his wife of 48 years, Sherry Asbury Halstead; sons, James E. (Carlie) Halstead, III of Charlotte, NC, Raymond (Angela) Halstead of Mooresville, NC and Stephen Halstead of Charlotte, NC; grandchildren, James E. Halstead, IV, Kelsey Halstead, Braiden Halstead, Jennings Halstead, Raymond Halstead, Jr., Ethan Halstead, Caroline Halstead, Stephen Halstead, Jr., and Hayden Halstead; brothers and sisters, Rebecca (Bill) Kimmons, Mark (Alice) Halstead, John (Susie) Halstead, Sarah (David) Halstead Boland and Matthew (Jami) Halstead; mother-in-law, Georgia Asbury of Bancroft, WV.
A Committal Service to Honor the Life of Jim will be held immediately following the visitation on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens. Family and Friends may visit from 10:00 AM to 12:00PM on Saturday, October 14, 2017 at Snodgrass Funeral Home, South Charleston. There will be a reception at First Presbyterian Church of South Charleston, 508 2nd Ave., South Charleston, WV 25303, following the committal service.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests donations be made to Cabell Huntington Hospital Foundation manager for the Joan C. Edwards Oncology Department, 1340 Hal Greer Boulevard, Huntington, WV 25701.
The family would like to extend their appreciation and gratitude to Dr. Yehuda Lebowicz and the faculty and staff at Cabell Huntington Hospital for their kindness and care provided to Jim and the family.
